We've heard from educators from Davenport to Council Bluffs that basing Clean and Green on the Core is "brilliant." We decided to do this so that teachers wouldn't feel it was an add-on, but that they can actually use Clean and Green as a tool for teaching kids the academic skills prescribed by the Iowa and Common Core Standards. When we started the project in 2009, we asked the Waste Commission of Scott County to convene a steering committee for us. With the help of teachers, principals, conservationists and after school program administrators we pulled together the 60 lessons that make up Clean and Green for:
