April Showers

Not only is April Keep Iowa Beautiful Month, it's also National Garden Month! During April the United States Department of Agriculture will celebrate how gardens provide healthy food for the table and the spirit.

According to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack (don't forget he's from Iowa), "Today, 2,116 People's Gardens promote food security, utilize sustainable practices, help mitigate pollinator habitat loss, and address environmental issues."

In addition to being beautiful, gardens provide habitat for crickets, bees, birds, butterflies and beetles that pollinate plants and keep the earth covered in vegetation. And food for everybody.
